It was another forum member venting about lack of driver support. Am I to assume that the Scanjet will no longer be supported? You can try the Windows 8. I tried this on my windows 10 machine and it said it installed successfully - no errors or blocking. I don't have a Scanjet to plug in and try out but I'd give this a try if I were you.
